Van Gaalen Cheese Farm has been the venue for several Backyard events and remains a popular choice for those aiming to extend their distance. Featuring a modest 39m of elevation gain per lap, this mostly flat course offers an ideal opportunity for participants to test their limits.

Silver Ticket Event:
Van Gaalen Backyard Ultra is a ‘Silver Ticket’ event meaning that the winners of the Silver Ticket events will have a place on the national team and compete against the World at the Backyard Ultra World Team Champs - 17th of October 2026.
The Route
The route is also supporter and spectator friendly as the majority of the route can accessed from various points. A mid-point comes past the Start/Finish where supporters can give their encouragement for their runners. The Start / Finish area is situated right next to an open field which allows athletes to be able to set up their gazebos / tents close at hand.
